Socialisation of puppies is extremely important and needs to begin right from when you collect your puppies and bring them home. We at Crossroads understand that it is difficult at first to socialise your puppy with other dogs and the 'wide world' prior to completion of their vaccination courses.
We have designed a puppy group to help you enjoy your new puppy, help to get them socialised early, give you some useful information and try to help with any problems! You may find it especially helpful if you are a first time puppy owner or have not had a puppy for many years.
The group is for puppies who have had their first vaccination and are aged between 8 - 12 weeks at their first session.
About the course
On your puppy's first class you will be given a socialisation chart giving you great ideas of different situations and experiences you will need to get your puppy used to. They will also get a 'goodie' bag containing a 2kg sample of James Wellbeloved food and a bowl.
The course runs for 3 weeks and we discuss a variety of topics.
| Week 1 |
- Socialisation, habituation and body language |
| Week 2 |
- Jumping up, chewing, mouthing and play biting. |
| Week 3 |
- Demonstration of a basic health check, handling, grooming and teeth brushing. |
Each week the puppies get a chance to meet the other people at the class as well as the other puppies. We allow the puppies to have a controlled period of play for a couple of minutes at a time at each session.
The course is set up so that you can start on any of the weeks and we will always answer questions even if they are not the topics of that particular night. We take only six puppies a night and so places are limited. If you are considering getting a puppy then we suggest you book into classes as soon as possible. Socialisation and training of your puppy is extremely important to gain the best results from them as adult dogs.
We look forward to seeing you... |
