Our work here at Crossroads is aided by various 'state of the art'
diagnostic aids. We have an extremely hard working team of nine
veterinary nurses whom provide the very 'backbone' vital to any
busy efficient and forward thinking practice.
Therefore
the nurses provide great support to the vets and also run
daily clinics for such as post operation stitch removals,
pedicures, weight checks, post operative dental checks,
microchipping pets, administering program injections for
flea control, general advice, wound redressing.
We
also hold a free weight clinic to which vets may refer those
pets in need of losing a pound or two or indeed our nurse
whom holds this clinic is happy to advise anyone with questions
or concerns about diet in general.

 |
We are just a phone call away and our busy and well trained reception
staff will endeavour to assist you in anyway they can, whether it
is to get you the advice or information you need or to make a booking
to suit your pets needs if necessary.
All our staff are kept up
to date with any training or course attendance relevent to their
'job' which is vital in the ever progressive world of medicine be
it for people or pets. |

Behind the scenes is the diagnostic equipment. This aids in giving
accurate diagnosis when it is possible to do so without sending
samples away to an outside laboratory or specialist veterinary diagnostic
organisation.

Our Equipment Includes-
XRAY
MACHINE - 'Say cheese' you're on film! (well mainly bones
and organs actually) Here at Crossroads our xray machine is always
in action. Taking radiographs of animals as small as mice up to
the size of a Great Dane, the machine is used to diagnose fractures,
tumours and other internal problems. |
|
 |
|
|
|
MICROSCOPE
- fascinating and essential tools in the aiding of diagnoses.
Used to identify skin problems, blood cell recognition and urine
analysis (a great help and interest to our trainee nurses)
ENDOSCOPES - Used for internal investigation.
PULSE OXIMETERS - Aid in anaesthesia monitoring.
ECG - Helps detect a heart problem.
|
|
| BIOCHEMISTRY
and HAEMATOLOGY BLOOD ANALYSERS - A great diagnostic
aid. These machines are able to monitor and detect a number
of internal problems and also aid the vet with specific
treatment.
BLOOD PRESSURE MONITOR -
Our blood pressure
monitor was very kindly donated to the practice by Mr Yogi
Madlani and Dr Pat Taylor in memory of their much loved
dog 'Nimi' whom sadly passed away.

The blood pressure monitor is regularly used to monitor as well
as diagnose high blood pressure.
ULTRASOUND- we now have our own in house ULTRASOUND
equipment which has been very busy in assisting diagnosis in many
cases
This enables us to offer clients an efficient diagnosis when possible
without having to refer to other clinics or hospitals which delays
initial results or diagnosis. As we are able to offer ULTRASOUND
we
can carry out pregnancy checks, check for stones and growths and
is also able to check the heart and surrounding blood flo efficiency. Please click on the links for more, detailed information.
Also every Wednesday sees the arrival of Ken
Fraser- our visiting OPTHALMOLOGIST. The OPTHALMOLOGIST
will see pets whom have been referred to him for by the clients
own vet and this sometimes means that people come in to see him
from some distance away. Of course our clients are lucky enough
to have use of this service at their own veterinary practice should
the need ever arise. Ken also performs Kennel Club eye tests on
dogs whom will become parents if they pass the eye test with the
'all clear' and other eye tests which the dog may need.
