Diabetes Clinics with Ruby

This programme is designed to support owners of both newly-diagnosed or chronic diabetic cats and dogs and aid in the stabilisation of their condition.

The consist of an initial 30 minute, post diagnosis appointment, a 7 day follow up meeting, a stabilisation clinic 2- 3 weeks later followed by 3 monthly maintenance clinics to ensure that the diabetes is being managed and address and questions or concerns that owners may have.

Diabetic clinics are an ideal way to ensure optimal management of our diabetic patients and are very rewarding for all involved.

Arthritis Clinics with Bea

As our pets get older, they can experience pain in their joints and find it harder to move around as easily as they did in their younger years.

During Bea’s clinics, she will discuss your pet’s history with you in detail. This includes current treatment, supplements and food, routine and factors which affect your pet’s mobility.

The clinics include a full, head to toe assessment of your pet’s mobility, muscle coverage and body condition.

Bea will then work with you to make a plan for ongoing management of your pet’s arthritis at home and make suggestions to improve their quality of life at home.

Canine Behaviour clinics with Stacey

Here at Crossroads we want to make sure your relationship with your dog is as strong and rewarding as it can be. So when unwanted behaviours arise it can be challenging to understand why they are happening and what you should do to help resolve them.

We are now pleased to offer face to face behaviour consultations with Stacey, our in house canine behaviour specialist for advice, support and guidance on a variety of concerns.

These may include (but not limited to):

  • Puppy training/socialisation
  • Anxiety/Fear/Nervousness
  • Dog/human aggression
  • Excessive barking
  • Recall
  • Pulling on the lead
  • Reactivity
  • Destructive behaviour
  • Resource guarding
  • Separation anxiety
  • House training

The aim of the sessions is to help you understand why your dog is behaving the way they are, determine the root cause of the behaviour rather than just treating the symptoms and give you a clear and easy to understand plan of how you can help your dog overcome their individual challenges.

Our behaviour modification and management plans are always reward based, kind and ethical and never use force or aversive methods. Each session is around 60 minutes in length (depending on the nature of the problem) and tailored to suit your needs. You will be shown how to apply a variety of methods tailored to your dog, individual circumstances and real-life situations.

You will also be emailed a summary of what has been discussed during your appointment. A follow up phone call or email will be made 2 weeks after your appointment to make sure things are on track, answer any questions and to determine if any further sessions or support is needed.

Feline Behaviour clinics with Abi

"My name is Abi, I have a huge appreciation for all things feline!

I have recently studied with the International Society of Feline Medicine where I achieved a Distinction in Feline Behaviour. This amazing course allows me to help clients and their cats to lead a stress lifestyle and address any issues they are experiencing.

Unlike their canine friends, we know that most cats prefer not to have to come and visit us in practice. As such, my cat behaviour clinics take place over the telephone. I spend up to an hour discussing your cat’s behaviour and stress related symptoms such as over grooming.

Lots of cats suffer from some form of stress that simply go unrecognised as they are so good at keeping secrets! It’s my job to find out what those secrets are to create the pathway to a happier cat.

I always look forward to chatting with people and hearing about their cats and working together to find a comfortable solution."
